Man sitting in car shot in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Police say a suspect opened fire on a man sitting in a car in Wilmington.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of West 5th Street.

The victim, in his 20s, was struck several times in the torso.

Authorities say he was able to drive to 4th and Bancroft streets, where he was found.

The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

Police say the victim fled the scene on foot, tossing the gun, which they recovered a short distance away.

The shooting remains under investigation.
