Man surrenders to police in South Philadelphia barricade

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man surrendered to police after a barricade situation in South Philadelphia.

It started around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday along the 200 block of Morris Street.

Police received calls of an armed man barricaded inside of his home.

Philadelphia Police 3rd District sent out a tweet out warning nearby residents: "Avoid the area of Moyamensing & Morris Street, large police presence for a male with mental health issues inside his home."

Police say there were two hunting rifles in the home.

The man surrendered to authorities without incident and no injuries were reported.
