More than 30 shots fired in North Philly double shooting

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say at least 32 shots were fired in a North Philadelphia double shooting that left a man dead and sent a woman to the hospital.

It was an execution style murder on the 21 hundred block of North Uber Street late Monday night.

Two men ran up and unloaded three dozen shots on 24-year-old Christopher Green outside his home.

A neighbor got caught in the gunfire and suffered a bullet wound to the leg.

Captain James Clark explained the innocent bystander, saying, "She's actually just walking into the house. A hardworking female, 46 years of age. Working same job 20 years, is a mother of two children. Very nice lady and just got struck while walking into her house."

Neighbor Tae Hoo Lee tells us, "There was some silence and then after a while I heard some crying and yelling."

Lee says this neighborhood is on the upswing, with many homes being renovated. It's on the fringe of the Temple University Campus.

Relatives of the woman shot say the bullet went through a bone. She's out of surgery and in stable condition, but has a long recovery ahead.

She doesn't want her identity revealed because of the nature of the shooting.

Sources say Green has several arrests for narcotics and it's a motive they're investigating.

Lee says, "It's just a vicious cycle of retaliation and violence that's like normal for some of the folks, and shouldn't be that way."

Police say the two shooters were last seen running and jumping into a dark colored four door sedan.
