TOWNSEND, Del. (WPVI) -- An elderly man who suffered severe burns after a motorcycle collided with a tractor in Delaware has died.

88-year-old Wills Passmore, of Townsend, Delaware, died Tuesday at Crozer Chester Medical Center.

The crash happened in the 600 block of Taylor's Bridge Road in Townsend at 3:20 p.m. Monday.

Police say a farm tractor operated by Passmore was exiting a driveway when it was struck by the motorcycle.

The motorcycle was travelling southbound, and for an unknown reason it veered into the northbound lane where it collided with the tractor.

The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 33-year-old Timothy V. Giffing, was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the impact, the motorcycle's gas tank ruptured and set the tractor and Wills Passmore on fire.

Passmore was transported to Christiana Hospital and then transferred to the Crozer Medical Center due to severe burns.

Police say he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
