Motorcyclist's wife pleads for answers following his death
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The horrific accident scene from last Sunday night still haunts the family of 45-year-old Christopher Cooper of Northeast Philadelphia.
Cooper was struck by two vehicles as he lay on the roadway after losing control of his motorcycle.
Family members say Cooper, who worked for the Philadelphia Water Department, was an avid motorcycle rider.
Around 9:49 p.m. Sunday night, he was riding his wife's 2001 Suzuki GSX on I-95 North in Christiana, Delaware. Suddenly he somehow lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway.
Cooper was subsequently struck and killed by two cars whose drivers did not stop to render aid.
"It's unbelievable for me to think that there are people out here in the world that are like that, because I care for everybody," says Cooper's wife, Rachael Cooper.
"I want the people to come forward, admit to their mistakes. There's gotta be some front end damage on those vehicles," added Joyce Cooper, Christopher's mother.
Delaware State Police say witnesses described the vehicles as a silver 2014 to 2016 Mazda 3, and a 1998 to 2002 Honda Accord.
Both would have sustained front-end damage.
