NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was a life changing moment for a North Philadelphia mother today. She was given a car, and it caught her totally off guard.
Icylee Basketbill picked her daughter up from school and thought she was going back to work when she was stopped in her tracks and given the keys to a fully refurbished Red Chevy HHR.
Basketbill's 10-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with Autism, And Basketbill has made it her mission to help other families facing that same diagnosis.
She drives families to training classes on Autism and her old car was not in good shape.
Basketbill says, "It's just been so tough. You really learn who your friends are, you know, who can help you. I had to invest in Zip Car, which is convenient but it gets expensive."
The car giveaway was made possible by Collision Care, AAA, and Louie's Voice, which helps speak up for families dealing with Autism.
