New custom wheelchair arrives for Philadelphia boy
WEST OAK LANE (WPVI) -- A young boy with cerebral palsy now has a new wheelchair after his was stolen in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia.
Ten-year-old Robert Prout's custom wheelchair was stolen from right out in front of the family's home in the 7000 block of Forrest Avenue.
Just one day after Action News originally aired the story, a woman who wishes to remain anonymous called Mr. Wheelchair, a shop on Frankford Avenue in Holmesburg.
She said she wanted to provide Robert with a new custom wheelchair and cost was not a factor.
So on Thursday morning, just over two weeks since Robert's wheelchair was stolen, his new, custom-made wheelchair was delivered to his home.
Robert's mother Amesha Prout says she is filled with joy.
"To the woman who came forward and found it in her heart to do something for my son, I can just thank you very much. I pray that God continues to bless her because what she did you can't put that into words," Amesha said.
With the new chair, Robert will be able to go back to school.
Police believe so-called scrappers may have taken the previous wheelchair, believing it was trash.
