UNIVERSITY CITY (WPVI) -- On your mark, get set - go! It's go time for the oldest track and field event in the country - the Penn Relays.
"I'm here to support to Jamaican schools. I've been here for the last 15 years - every year," said Leroy Johnsons.
"Team Jamaica all the way!" said Ricardo Latoruche.
On Friday, the high school boys hit the track for the 4x100.
"The local events that we do - nothing compares to this. Feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity to come here to this," said Simon Doss-Gollin.
"I'm excited - I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little nervous too - I'm not gonna lie," said Alonzo Aponte.
"They're all nervous. I rarely see them nervous - and to have a kid telling me he is nervous - that speaks volumes about how important this is to them," said Coach John Engle, Jackson Liberty High School.
Many of the college athletes here this weekend were here years ago as high school students.
Shavez Hart took part in the Penn Relays as part of the Bahamian team.
Now he is competing as a senior at Texas A&M University.
"My senior year of high school - it was pretty fun. It helped me with exposure and stuff," said Hart.
This weekend is a chance for these young athletes to compete on a huge stage against some of the best in the world.
"I think it just inspires kids to train harder and do better," said Coach Engle.
If you didn't make it out Friday, there is still plenty of time to check it out.
Saturday is USA against the world where you can scope out some potential future Olympians.
