Franklin Square facelift turns 9
One of Philadelphia's oldest public spaces has reason to celebrate

PHILADELPHIA -- One of Philadelphia's oldest public spaces has reason to celebrate.

It has been nine years since Franklin Square was revamped with family friendly attractions.

Friday's birthday party included an appearance by Benjamin Franklin.

He and some young helpers gifted the square with a willow tree, which is a common symbol for a 9th anniversary.

Party goers also dined on free cake.
