CENTER CITY --A woman charged with abducting a girl from kindergarten and sexually assaulting her brought a Philadelphia trial to a halt with a tearful outburst.
Christina Regusters has spent much of her two-week trial taking notes and quietly reading documents at the defense table.
But she responded Wednesday to testimony from a relative, crying out that she had never touched the woman's child.
Regusters is not charged in that complaint, but prosecutors hope to show that she has another young accuser.
The school kidnap victim believes that a man assaulted her while she was blindfolded at a home last year. However, prosecutors believe that Regusters acted alone.
The jury won't hear Regusters' police statement when the trial resumes Thursday - because a judge Wednesday found she was not read her rights.
