A pedestrian is hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by a SEPTA trolley in Southwest Philadelphia.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A pedestrian has died after being struck by a SEPTA trolley in Southwest Philadelphia.

The incident was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday on Island Avenue and Lindbergh Boulevard.

Police say a pedestrian was hit by a trolley heading to Center City.

The victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where they later died.

About five people on the trolley were taken to the hospital for observation.
