Police say a 47-year-old man was struck and critically injured by a vehicle in West Philadelphia Wednesday night.

The accident happened around 8:00 p.m. on Cobbs Creek Parkway and Delancey Street.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.

Police say the driver in the striking vehicle did stop at the scene.

Investigators are searching for answers on why the pedestrian was struck.
