VIDEO: Pedestrian ID'd in hit and run
The victim in a hit and run in Vineland has been ID'd.

VINELAND, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police have identified the man struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Vineland, New Jersey.

That man is 49-year-old Armando Lopez.

It happened before 9:00 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Landis Avenue, near Delsea Drive in Vineland.

Officers arrived to find Lopez lying in the road near the curb. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators think he was crossing the road and was hit just as he made it to the far curb.

A search is now underway for the driver who hit the man and fled the scene.

Police say the investigation is being complicated by the fact that witnesses have given differing descriptions of the striking vehicle.

They say some parts of the vehicle were left behind at the scene. Police are analyzing those to develop a more accurate description.

Vineland investigators spent the morning looking for surveillance video that might help lead them to the hit-and-run vehicle. One camera may have caught a glimpse but its image must be enlarged to see if it will be useful.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Vineland Police.

The search is underway for the driver who struck and killed a man overnight on Landis Ave. in Vineland, NJ.
