Authorities say a person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Authorities say a person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. Sunday by the Hamilton Station off Sloan Avenue.

The person was struck by Amtrak train #123, which was headed from Washington D.C. to Boston.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

None of the 541 passengers onboard the train were injured.

They were transferred to another train to continue on to Boston.

No word why the person was on the tracks. Officials are investigating.

Amtrak says delays are expected throughout the evening.
