Police say a man had just stepped outside of his home, and was smoking a cigarette when shots were fired in Philadelphia's Wissinoming neighborhood.

WISSINOMING (WPVI) -- Police have identified the man who stepped outside of a home to smoke a cigarette in Wissinoming was killed in hail of gunfire.

Investigators say at least ten shots rang out around Midnight Wednesday on the 6000 block of Vandike Street.

Thirty-one-year-old Isaiah Batties was hit in the chest, stomach, and legs. He tried to crawl back into his house.

Police arrived and rushed the man to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

They do think the victim was the intended target.

Investigators found ten spent shell casings on the sidewalk where the victim laid, and one on the front porch.

Police are checking area surveillance cameras.

So far, no word on suspects or a motive.
