Police have made an arrest in the brutal assault on a woman inside a Center City SEPTA station.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has set bail at $1 million for the man suspected in the beating and sexual assault of a woman at a SEPTA station in Center City.

26-year-old Reginald Green of 2600 block of South Robinson Street is charged with Attempted Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Restraint, False Imprisonment, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Simple Assault, and Indecent Assault.

The attack happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Police explained on Tuesday that the 27-year-old victim was trying to get home to Northeast Philadelphia and stopped in the area of 14th and Arch streets to ask for directions.

According to police, the victim met Green and accompanied him into Jefferson Station, formerly Market East, at 10th and Filbert streets.

The two were allegedly together conversing for approximately a half hour.

Investigators say Reginald Green then led the victim to a secluded area off the platform where he beat her, kicked her, and tried to rape her.

At last check the woman was still recovering at the hospital.

SEPTA Police say they recognized Green from surveillance footage and brought him in for questioning on Tuesday, before deciding to issue charges.

Authorities say Green has 11 prior arrests, including at least one indecent assault.

Green remains in custody after failing to post bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 26, 2015.
