Police: Alcohol involved in fatal Newark, Del. crash

Three people were hurt after a vehicle crash in Newark, Delaware early Monday morning.

NEWARK, Del. -- Police say alcohol was a factor in an overnight crash in Newark, Delaware that left a man dead.

The accident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on South College Avenue near Old Chestnut Hill Road.

Investigators say the driver of a Lexus drove off the road and hit a tree.

The 30-year-old male passenger was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is behind withheld pending notification of family.

The 35-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police charges are pending in this case.
