Police: Fatal shooting victim found with more than $1,000

Three people are being sought after police say a man carrying more than $1,000 on him was shot and killed in North Philadelphia.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a man carrying more than $1,000 on him was shot and killed in North Philadelphia.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 2500 block of North 19th Street near Cumberland Street.

Authorities say the victim was walking down the street when three suspects, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, approached and opened fire.

The victim was shot at point blank range multiple times. He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the motive does not appear to be a robbery as the victim was found with more than $1,000 cash on him.

The homicide is under investigation.
