Police investigate jogger's death in Montco

WHITEMARSH, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police have a lot of questions after an avid runner died during a run in Fort Washington State Park in Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania.

25-year-old Christopher Braun, from Plymouth Meeting, went for a run around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with two of his co-workers.

They were about to climb up a hill when one of the Braun's co-workers noticed he was missing.

His co-workers made it to the top and waited, but he never showed.

The co-workers then returned to their office to find he still hadn't returned.

They called authorities around 3:00 p.m. fearing something had happened to him.

After a long search, police found Braun's body around 8:00 p.m. in a ravine near railroad tracks.

His co-workers were able to track the location of his cell phone, which was a short distance from where search teams found his body.

Police do not suspect foul play and they don't think he was hit by a train.

They believe it may have been a medical issue or heat related.

Those in the park on Thursday said they were being mindful of the affect the heat has on them.

"We don't stay as long as today as when there is less heat. I'm sure it's not good for me either," said Bruce Cohen of Blue Bell.

"It's kind of shocking. It doesn't happen here. I've never heard of it happening over here before," said Tom Winning of Whitemarsh Township.

An autopsy is being done by the medical examiner's office to determine the man's death.

Police say Braun was in the Army Reserves.
