HARTLEY, Del. (WPVI) -- A suspect shot by a Delaware state trooper after police say he assaulted the trooper with her own Taser is recovering.

The incident happened before 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, after the trooper responded to reports of a suicidal man in the 3000 block of Judith Road in Hartly, Delaware.

Police say when the trooper arrived, 47-year-old Glen Sego, Jr. came out of the house.

The trooper, a 1-and-a-half year veteran of the state police, followed him to the rear of the property and ordered him to stop.

Investigators say Sego then struck the trooper with his walking cane, stole her Taser and used it on her.

The trooper was able to fire her gun, striking Sego once.

He was airlifted to Christiana Hospital with injuries said to be non-life-threatening. He is listed in fair condition.

Police say he will face assault charges when he's released from the hospital.

The trooper, identified as a 25-year-old woman assigned to the Troop 3 patrol in Dover, was taken to Kent General Hospital, where she was treated for a minor injury and released.

The trooper has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
