BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- It turns out a man who allegedly took off with his baby following a custody dispute was also wanted for a shooting.

The suspect, Andy Diaz, was taken into custody in his apartment in the 200 block of 3rd Street in Bethlehem, Pa. on Thursday evening.

Police say the incident began when his girlfriend called 911 to say Diaz took off with their baby following a child custody dispute.

Officers surrounded his apartment building.

Diaz then barricaded himself in an apartment in that block with the baby.

He came out of the apartment, with the help of a crisis negotiator, after a half hour.

Diaz had been wanted since March 2nd for allegedly shooting and wounding another person after a fight escalated in the 300 block of South New Street.

The baby involved in this incident is doing just fine.
