Police respond to 'suspicious' discovery in Spring Garden

SPRING GARDEN (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police responded to a women's shelter in Spring Garden after they say "something suspicious" was discovered in the rear of the building.

Police were called around 10:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of Pearl Street.

Chopper 6 was over the scene as a police bomb squad moved in. They were able to destroy the object without incident.

So far, there is no word on what the object was made of.

The scene was cleared around 11:00am.

No injuries have been reported.
