Police shoot dog while chasing suspect in West Philly
Police shot a dog while chasing an armed suspect in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police shot a dog while chasing an armed suspect in West Philadelphia.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday along the 5300 block of Baltimore Avenue.

Police say two officers on routine patrol spotted a 20-year-old man carrying a gun.

They say the man took off running.

Officers chased the man to a nearby house where the dog attacked him.

One of the officers fired his weapon.

The dog was wounded on his paw but survived.

Officers arrested the man inside the house.

Police say no one inside the home was hurt and they have no relation to the suspect.
