PRINCETON, N.J. (WPVI) -- A professor at Princeton University has been arrested on theft charges.

John Mulvey, 67, was arrested at his home on Puritan Court on Monday afternoon.

Police say he is charged with the theft of 21 business signs from the lawn of another Princeton resident.

Investigators add the victim is not a neighbor, saying the victim lives about a half mile away.

The signs are valued at more than $470 and were recovered from Mulvey's home, police said.

Princeton University confirmed Mulvey is a professor there, but would not comment further.

An online biography said Mulvey is Professor of Operations Research and Financial Engineering, calling him a "leading expert in large-scale optimization models and algorithms, especially financial applications."
