PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a 24-year-old prisoner escaped from a hospital in West Philadelphia.

Khalil Robinson was at the Presbyterian Hospital emergency room at 51 North 39th Street.

He escaped before 10 p.m. Wednesday following his arrest for a DUI and narcotics offenses outside 65th and Woodland Avenue.

Two officers were sent to relieve prisoner detail at the hospital. One of the officers went to make sure Robinson was handcuffed.

At that time Robinson sprung from the bed and ran out of the room, police say.

Officers chased him around the nurse's station and out of the building.

The chase took the officers across Powelton Avenue and into a park across the street.

The defendant was lost in the area of the 3800 block of Warren Street.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Khalil Robinson is asked to please contact Southwest Detective Division at 215-686-3183 or dial 911.
