Cousins were selling drugs when shot, wounded in North Philadelphia, police say

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police tell Action News they now believe two cousins were selling drugs when they were shot and wounded in North Philadelphia.

The incident happened before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

A 16-year-old boy was shot four times in the legs and elbow, and a 20-year-old woman was hit in the back.

Police found the victims on the front steps of a home in the 1100 block of Glenwood Avenue.

That is several blocks from where detectives believe the shooting occurred, in the 1300 block of Rush Street.

Police say the victims told them they were approached at that location by a man who they thought wanted to by drugs from them.

Instead, he opened fire.

Medics rushed both victims to Temple University Hospital. Both are expected to survive.

Police say the victims described the shooter as a skinny man, 6 feet tall, 21-24 years-of-age and wearing an olive green hooded sweatshirt.
