SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A $1,500 reward is being offered as the investigation continues into a deadly hit-and-run on Interstate 95 in South Philadelphia.

Wilfried Fleischmann, 61, was killed back on April 4th after being hit by multiple vehicles by Exit 13 near the Philadelphia International Airport.

No one claimed responsibility.

Fleischmann was on his way back to North Carolina to visit his daughter, Anita Garza, and celebrate his granddaughter's first birthday.

"If you're waiting on someone and excited, and the next thing you know that person would never be in your life again. How would that make them feel," Garza said.

Fleischmann, a German citizen, had flown to Philadelphia for a connecting flight.

"He had a 6-and-a-half hour overlay. My mom wanted to stay at the airport, he was tired and wanted to stay at a hotel," Garza said.

Fleischman's daughter believes he may have missed the shuttle and decided to walk.

He was in the northbound lanes of I-95 when he was hit.

"Any vehicle that would have been involved would have substantial damage to its front end, including its bumper, hood and windshield. There may also have been trace evidence left on the vehicle, blood or hair," said Cpl. Gerard McShea of the Pennsylvania State Police.

A witness reported seeing a white Ford Bronco in the area with a tire rack on the back with no tire in it.

Police are looking for witnesses, information about a damaged car during that time period, or information from a body shop that may have made repairs.

Family members are hoping someone hears their plea and comes forward.

"They didn't just kill somebody. This person was loved, was cared for. This has hurt a lot of people," Garza said.
