Robber returns cash after spotting police car in East Oak Lane

EAST OAK LANE (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are looking for a suspect who had a change of heart after spotting a police car during a robbery at an East Oak lane convenience store.

The robber was caught on surveillance at 2:30 a m. Tuesday morning walking into the 7-Eleven on the 6700 block of North 5th Street with a mask covering his face.

He approached the counter to make a purchase and handed the clerk a note demanding cash.

However, as the suspect tried to leave the store, a police vehicle pulled up and parked outside.

The suspect then walked back into the store, circled the counter and handed the cash back to the clerk before making his exit.

There were no injuries reported.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 6'3" tall with a stocky build and dark complexion. He was wearing a two toned gray and black hooded jacket, dark colored pants with gray stripes and a black mask covering the lower half of his face.
