Rescuers are searching for a man who was in distress in the ocean near Hereford Inlet in North Wildwood.

NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. -- Rescuers are searching for a man who was in distress in the ocean near Hereford Inlet in North Wildwood.

A witness reported seeing a man in distress around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Police spotted the man and attempted a rescue, but could not reach him.

Just after 11:00 a m. officials moved their search from the 100 of Seaview Court to the Anglesea Colony Gardens area due to the shift in the current.

The victim is described as a white male, approximately 40 years old with brown hair.

Police are searching for a person in Hereford Inlet in North Wildwood, after witnesses reported seeing a man struggling in the water.
