VIDEO: SEPTA assault
Police have released surveillance video of the assault suspect.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- SEPTA police say they have positively identified the suspect who assaulted a 60-year-old man on the Market-Frankford El.

SEPTA Police Chief Thomas J. Nestel III says they know who the young man is thanks to facial recognition software and two tipsters.

"Warrant has been requested," Nestel tweeted.

A camera at the 15th and Market platform captured the attack of the male rider.

The video was released on Tuesday.

Authorities say the young man got into a verbal altercation with the 60-year-old man, seen in the video wearing a brown jacket.

After several minutes of arguing, the train pulls in at 15th and market.

Everybody gets off, but the arguing continues.

That's when the victim is punched and knocked unconscious.

SEPTA says the victim was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where he underwent a CAT scan for possible head injuries.

"I don't know what his background is or why he was riding on the train, but what I can tell is that he didn't know the punch was coming," Nestel said.

The attacker fled with the crowd.
