FRANKFORD (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police have made two arrests after the attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl inside Frankford High School on Wednesday.

An 18-year-old male was charged with attempted rape and other offenses. His name was not released.

A 17-year-old male was charged with conspiracy to commit rape and other offenses. His name was not released and he was not charged as an adult, police say.

According to police, the 18-year-old approached the girl from behind as she was walking to class, and put his arm around her shoulder.

He tried to talk to the girl, police say, but she pushed him off and walked away.

He then allegedly grabbed her again and forced her into what was supposed to be a locked bathroom, but had been opened for him by the 17-year-old.

That teen had a key and stood guard outside, police say.

Inside the bathroom, police say the 18-year-old grabbed the girl by the throat and attempted to sexually assault her.

The girl screamed and a teacher opened the door.

Both suspects were then taken into custody.

The School District of Philadelphia released a statement on Wednesday reading:

"The safety of our students is our number one priority. Assault of any kind in our schools is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. The School Police took immediate action on this matter and are working in cooperation with the Philadelphia Police Department."
