A shooting has prompted authorities to lock down an elementary school in Philadelphia?s Strawberry Mansion section.

STRAWBERRY MANSION (WPVI) -- A shooting outside a Philadelphia public school in Strawberry Mansion has prompted a lockdown at the school.

Police tell Action News an 18-year-old woman was shot at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of Diamond Street.

The victim, who was hit once in the hip, was taken by a private car to Temple University Hospital with stable vital signs.

Video from Chopper 6 HD showed yellow crime scene tape around an area including several cars.

The police activity prompted the Philadelphia School District to order a lockdown at the William Dick School.

The K-8 school is located at 2498 Diamond Street.
