CHESTNUT HILL (WPVI) -- Police have released a sketch of the suspect and new details pertaining to the attempted sexual assault of a woman in Chestnut Hill.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. last Friday. A 51-year-old woman was walking on a trail in Wissahickon Valley Park near the 600 block of Gate House Row when a man she didn't know passed by.

They exchanged hellos.

Then he came back up behind her, grabbed her by the shoulders, and demanded money.

She told him she didn't have any money. He pushed her to the ground, began choking her, and shoved dirt in her mouth while asking for sex.

After a struggle that went on for close to ten minutes, the victim broke free and called police from a passerby's cell phone.

Police say no sexual contact was made.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall black man, between 25 and 30 years of age, dark complexion, muscular build and black curly hair. He was wearing a red polo shirt with white lettering, tan pants and a baseball cap.

Police released a sketch of the suspect on Thursday.
