Smoke fills PennDOT building in King of Prussia

Officials say smoke filled a PennDOT building after an electrical fire in King of Prussia early Tuesday morning.

An electrical fire filled a PennDOT building in with smoke and caused a 2-hour delayed opening for workers Tuesday morning in King of Prussia.

Firefighters responded around 3:30 a.m Tuesday to PennDOT's regional headquarters in the 7000 block of Geerdes Boulevard.

They arrived to find smoke inside a second floor equipment room.

The smoke also spread to some of the upper floors.

The fire was placed under control in just over an hour.

Crews evacuated and ventilated the building with fans. The power was also shut off, and building was operating on backup generators.

The incident shut down PennDOT's traffic control operation for a short time.

No injuries were reported.
