Officers were called for a report of a suicidal male who barricaded himself inside his home.

The Gloucester County Tactical Team, Monroe Township Police and the fire department responded.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

"We got some banging on the door, doorbell ringing like crazy," said Jared Schreffler.

Schreffler was woken up around 4:30 a.m. Officers were at the door of his home in the Fox Hollow development.

"It's two Monroe Township police officers," he told Action News. "They said, 'Sorry to bother you, but we have a suspect barricaded in a house behind yours with a long rifle.' He said the bullets were capable of going through the house so that we had to evacuate."

"When my mom woke me up, I saw everyone running around," said youngster Mya Williams. "Didn't know what was going on. Saw my sister crawling on the floor because we couldn't go out back or near the windows."
