VIDEO: Stocking up for the storm
New Jersey Correspondent Nora Muchanic reports from Trenton with more on the weekend rush.

TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Whenever snow is on the way, you can count on long lines at the grocery store. But that's especially true this weekend, when people are already stocking up for Super Bowl Sunday.

Front end loaders at the Willingboro public works yard are mixing sand with the dwindling salt supply, hoping to stretch what's left. Because of the storm earlier this week salt deliveries have been delayed.

Willingboro Public Works Director Rich Brevogel explains, "We've just now gotten word from the vendors that we may get salt delivered today or tomorrow we'll have about 200 tons so we're holding our breath."

Willingboro is making sure all its plows and equipment are ready to go, even plugging in the diesel trucks so they'll be sure to start in the bitter cold.

At the Home Depot in Ewing, customers are stocking up on ice melt.

Not knowing if or how much snow we'll actually get doesn't seem to bother anyone.

John Szydlo of Trenton says, "Last year it was probably the worst year that I've seen. I mean, it seemed like it snowed every day. Six inches is nothing. We can handle six inches."

Robert Cordero of Trenton tells us, "They were expecting this huge one to hit us and it really bypassed us. You can't really... weather is unpredictable."

Anthony Woods of Trenton is a contractor, and he is hoping several inches of white could turn into green for him

Woods says, "Plowing lots, driveways, trucking, everywhere - whoever calls I'm there."

This double whammy of weekend events - The Super Bowl and possible snow - means the Acme on Route 130 in Willingboro is stocked up and ready to go.

Snacks, soda, wings, ribs... all the bad stuff that's so good to eat watching the game.

Marrian McDougald of Willingboro says, "We are going to do some home fried fish. Going to have hotdogs, hamburgers, going to have salads, chips and dip, fruit."

Acme Manager John Derro tells us, "Crazy weekend. It's going to be off-the-wall in here with the combination of the Super Bowl and the snow."

And if we do get some accumulating snow after the game is over?

John Banks of Willingboro responded to that question, saying, "Remember, we are in New Jersey. We are not in New England or anything. So no matter what happens, it's only gonna last a few days anyway."

Willingboro resident Neil McDougald doesn't share Banks' opinion. He tells us, "I'm not thrilled about the snow coming at all. See when you get old, it's nice to look at but you don't want to get out there and shovel it!"

It's that the truth.
