Suspect arrested after firing shot near police captain

WILMINGTON (WPVI) -- Authorities apprehended a suspect after a police captain saw the man fire a gun in Wilmington, Delaware.

The incident took place around 12:45 p.m. Thursday at 7th and West streets.

Police say a police captain patrolling the area saw the suspect fire a shot and gave chase.

The captain then saw the suspect throw a gun in some shrubs.

The suspect was arrested and the gun was recovered.

Police did find blood nearby, but no victim.

They continue to investigate.
