Suspect arrested for stealing police bike in Point Breeze
Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a police bike theft back on July 9th in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia.

POINT BREEZE (WPVI) -- Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a police bike theft back on July 9th in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. when an officer was on the 1800 block of South Broad Street performing a security check.

He left is Trek Police bike outside the property and when he returned his bike, helmet and saddle bag were gone.

Police located the bike around 12:15 p.m. on the 1300 block of Girard Avenue unattended. The helmet, saddle bag and all contents were recovered.

Surveillance video was recovered from the area and shows the suspect pushing the bicycle from the area.

An anonymous caller contacted police after watching the surveillance video posted on YouTube identifying the suspect as Wayne Whitley.

Whitley was arrested around 12:05 a.m. early Wednesday on the 1700 block of North 28th Street without incident.

Whitley is 36-years-of-age and is from the 1600 block of North 26th Street.

He is charged with theft and related offenses.
