Suspect in police custody after standoff in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A suspect is in custody after a brief standoff with police in North Philadelphia.

It began at 6:00 a.m. Monday when officers tried to serve a warrant at a home in the 1500 block of West Lehigh Avenue.

Police say the suspect refused to come out and barricaded himself inside along with several occupants.

SWAT units were called in.

At one point two shots were fired by police. No one was hit.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody about a half hour later.

There were no reports of injuries.

There was no immediate word why the suspect was being sought.
