Suspect points gun at officers in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a suspect pointed his gun at officers, prompting police to open fire in West Philadelphia Monday night.

The incident took place shortly after 7:00 p.m. along the 300 block of North 62nd Street.

Officers responded to the report of a man with a gun, and when they arrived they say the suspect raised his weapon toward them.

A sergeant saw the man point the gun in his direction and opened fire, missing the suspect.

The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended.

Police say the suspect is known to them.
