Suspect sought for Father's Day assault in Center City

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for the man seen on surveillance video assaulting a woman during a robbery attempt on Father's Day in Center City.

It happened around 10 p.m. on the 200 block of South 16th Street on Sunday, June 18.

Police released the surveillance video on Wednesday.

In the video, the suspect walks up behind the 30-year-old victim and tries to pull her purse from her shoulder.

When she resists, the suspect begins kicking her and dragging her along the sidewalk.

That's when four good Samaritans come to the rescue and chase the man away empty-handed.
