Suspect sought in Wissinoming grocery store robbery

Philadelphia police are looking for a suspect who robbed a grocery store in the city's Wissinoming section.

WISSINOMING (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are looking for a suspect who robbed a Wissinoming grocery store at gunpoint on Saturday.

It happened at the Rising Sun Grocery store located on the 4200 block of Levick Street.

The male suspect can be seen on surveillance entering the store shortly after 3 p.m.

After selecting an item, he brings it up to the register.

He asks the employee how much it costs and then returns the item to the refrigerator.

The suspect then brings up a different item to purchase.

As the employee begins to ring up the sale, he pulls out a handgun and demands money.

The employee hands over an unknown amount of cash from the register drawer and the suspect flees the scene.

He was last seen running west through a driveway between the 4100 block of Levick Street and the 4100 block of Elbridge Street.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his twenties, 5'8" tall with a medium build and goatee with mustache. He was wearing a black knit hat, white hooded sweatshirt with black design on the front and back, black cargo sweatpants and black sneakers.
