Suspect uses torch trying to break into Somerton gas station

SOMERTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a man seen on surveillance video attempting to break into a gas station in Somerton with tools including a torch.

It happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on June 18 at a Philly Gas station at 10188 Bustleton Avenue.

Police released surveillance video of the incident on Thursday.

The video shows the suspect trying to pry open the front door with a type of crowbar.

When that fails, he then covers his face and brings out a torch.

After another unsuccessful attempt to break in, police say the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction.
