A swarm of bees took over the center of town in Merchantville, Camden County causing some businesses to close up shop.

MERCHANTVILLE, N.J. (WPVI) -- A swarm of bees took over the center of town in Merchantville, Camden County causing some businesses to close up shop.

Thousands of honey bees gathered Monday in a tree near Center Street and Park Avenue to protect a queen.

A nearby beekeeper captured most of them and an exterminator used bug spray to kill or scatter these remaining ones.

No one reported being stung.
