A 16-year-old is facing arson charges after the fire marshal says he set fire to a motel in Delaware.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A 16-year-old boy is facing arson charges after the Delaware state fire marshal says he set fire to a motel in New Castle.

The teen was staying at the Delaware Auto Court Motel in the 200 block of South DuPont Highway on Wednesday July 20, when investigators say he ignited a fire.

A 20-year-old male firefighter suffered burns to his legs.

A 60-year-old woman, who was an occupant of a neighboring unit, was treated for shortness of breath.

Both were taken to Christiana Hospital.

The blaze caused $50,000 in damage.
