VIDEO: Son suspected behind armed robbery at father's home
Prosecutors say someone with close ties to the homeowner was the mastermind behind a frightening home invasion in California that was all caught on camera.

Prosecutors say someone with close ties to the homeowner was the mastermind behind a frightening home invasion in California that was all caught on camera.

The video shows men armed with knives, roaming the home just south of San Francisco.

Two terrified women and a baby were inside at the time.

They locked themselves in a bathroom as the men tore through the house.

Now, investigators say the 17-year-old son of the family terrorized by the burglars orchestrated the break-in at his father's home.

"He's turning on his own family," said prosecutor Madeline Seiff

Prosecutors say two suspected gang members and a third waiting in a getaway car robbed the San Jose, California home last month.

Surveillance from inside the home shows the armed men trying to kick in a door.

On the other side were the two women and the alleged mastermind's 1-year-old half-sister.

"One of them was able to fight to hold the door shut," said Seiff.

As one woman dialed 911, the suspects took off.

No one was hurt. But now investigators say one suspect, who turned himself in, claims that the real mastermind of the operation was the homeowner's 17-year old son, who was arraigned Friday.

Prosecutors say Simerjeet Singh wasn't at his dad's home during the burglary and doesn't live in the home but is accused of planning the invasion with suspected gang members from high school.

"We're still looking into what exactly motivated him," said Seiff.

If convicted, Singh and the three other suspects could face decades in jail.
