Traffic stop leads to arrest of Wilmington man

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Police arrested a Wilmington, Delaware man after finding about two pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Newark, Delaware.

Police say 26-year-old Russell Monroe was driving erratic in a Lincoln MKZ on Route 273 just east of Old Baltimore Pike.

A vehicle stop was conducted and police discovered that Monroe was currently on active probation with a mandatory curfew of 10 p.m.

Police did a pat down search and found Monroe in possession of more than $5,000 in suspected drug sale proceeds.

Officers then searched the vehicle and found about two pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

Monroe was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
