GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump suggested tonight that House Speaker Paul Ryan does not want a President Trump because of his own political ambitions in 2020.

When asked by ABC News' Tom Llamas before a campaign event tonight in Green Bay, Wisconsin, whether he believed Ryan wants him to win the race for the White House, Trump responded, "Well, maybe not, because maybe he wants to run in four years or maybe he doesn't know how to win."

"Maybe just doesn't know how to win. I mean, who can really know? But I know I'm in his territory and they are all screaming for Trump," the real estate mogul said, referring to the fact that his campaign event was in Ryan's home state. "The head of the [state] Republican Party just left me. He shook my hand. He says, 'You are going to win Wisconsin.' And I know one thing - we are going to do very well here."

Before Trump arrived at tonight's campaign event, there was a chant of "Paul Ryan sucks," Llamas noted, and then he asked Trump whether Ryan was helping or hurting Trump's campaign.

"Well, I don't want to be knocking Paul Ryan. I think he could be more supportive to the Republican nominee," Trump said. "We are doing well. I think we are going to win the election."
