GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- Dozens of homes are being affected by a water main break in Philadelphia's Germantown section.

The 12 inch main broke just after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Chew Avenue and Washington Lane.

The Philadelphia Water Department was able to shut off the water around 2:00 p.m.

50 properties plus an apartment building will be without water until repairs are made.

The Water Department says it plans to have the pipe fixed by today or tonight.
