Crews are working to repair a broken water main in West Philadelphia.

The break happened around 5 a.m. Saturday on the 6000 block of Haverford Avenue.

Thousands of gallons of water poured onto the street and even caused part of the road to buckle in front of the 19th Police District.

Police have were forced to shut down Haverford Avenue between 61st Street and Girard Avenue.

At least thirty homes are affected by the break.

Water Department employees are on location working to fix the problem.
